The Flashing Lane

Photography by
Ben Weller

These photographs were taken at different horse fairs across the United Kingdom between March and June 2014. The fairs represent important traditions for many in Gypsy and Traveller communities; none more so than Appleby Horse Fair in Cumbria. The centuries-old annual event is one of the largest gatherings of its kind, where horses are washed and groomed before being traded. These pictures form part of an ongoing project by Ben Weller, due to be published in book form.
